Helping Team Dorset to build a legacy leading up to and going beyond 2012

Team Dorset was launched locally at a Business Link event near Bridport. Gary Fooks the 2012 Legacy Manager, Paul Kinvig - Dorset Echo's Managing Director together passionately introduced the Team Dorset banner and its goals.

In 2012 the sailing events of the Oly**ic and Paralym**c Games (for legal reasons were not allowed to mention these words till the Beijing event is finished) are coming to Weymouth Bay, Dorset.

Tremendous opportunity for Dorset or shambolic festival disrupting our quiet existence?

Delegates seemed to split 50:50 between enthusiastic supporters and doom merchant critics. We, Team Dorset are challenged to work together under the Team Dorset banner to make the most of this opportunity.

For the more reluctant critics, perhaps we needed to hear what will happen if we do not step up to the challenges associated with working together! That without commitment we can sit back and watch outsiders that are functioning project teams grab local business opportunities!

Critics and doom merchants alike have fair comments and points to make, but first we need a framework for forming and storming ideas.  For finding like minded and complementary skilled parties. Quality mechanisms and policing powers.

Before we set off, we need to know where we were going, what the conditions will be, and how to navigate safely.
